Fernie Alpine Resort

Trip Dates: February 2008, March 2008, & February 2009

In early 2008 a group of us decided that we should go on at least one snowboarding trip each year and try to experience new resorts that we'd never been to before.  First on our list was Fernie and we liked it so much we came back a few times!  On our first trip we were completely spoiled with the amount of snow there was.  It was also the first time I actually needed to drive my Explorer in 4x4; there was that much snow in the streets!  I don't think I've ever snowboarded in that much snow again.  The weekend was so good it almost ruined Fernie for us because each time we've been back we've been expecting (hoping?) to have that much powder again, which is never the case.  Needless to say, Fernie is easily one of my favorite resorts that I've been to so far!  Fernie is located in the southeast corner of British Columbia, just past the Alberta border.  It is approximately 300km southwest of Calgary and has about 2,500 skiable acres of terrain.  Here's a collection of pictures from our Fernie adventures thus far.
